Hi all, my 16" MBP is arriving soon to replace both my older MP 5,1 and MPA 11".

I will be using it on the go of course as well as at my desk attached to three HD monitors. These are an eizo and two dells, using display port.

I see there are a variety of ways I can connect it all up, my preferred solution looks to be something like this which will be the neatest and looks that it can provide the laptop with the 93w of power as well...

My question is, are there any performance considerations I need to consider when setting up multiple monitors like this?

I am keen for there to be little to no performance drop with apps, specifically using the GPU whilst on the three screens. My concerns come from the fact that some seem to use the display-link tech which as I understand it can result in poor refresh rates/quality etc as they basically stream a compressed video feed?

I ideally would like a single cable/dock solution but if performance/quality will be hit I would be happy to use three of these directly into the laptop for example if that was an improvement?

Any advice on this would be most appreciated as this is my first all USB-C/Thunderbolt machine

Richard.

It's cheapest and easiest to just buy a USB-C to whatever (displayport, HDMI) for each monitor and connect them that way. If you use the Apple AV adapter you can connect HDMI and power on the same port.
