Hi I am buying a Dell monitor to use my mac in clamshell mode. I'm just wondering whether to buy just a DVI-DVI dual link cable or HDMI to DVI single link cable. As the dell monitor has a HDMI port and full 1080p resolution, will I see a difference between the two ?
Thanks

Both can carry 1920x1080 resolution so you won't notice any difference. BTW, you don't need dual-link DVI cable

So what's the difference, is dual link for higher resolutions ?

Yes. Single-link has maximum bandwidth of 3.96Gbit/s allowing up to 1920x1200 resolution while dual-link can carry up to 7.92Gbit/s and 2560x1600 resolution. Unless you're going to use a monitor with +1920x1200 resolution, single-link is fine
