I have just done a price check on the Macbook in White.
A white Macbook with a 4gb memory and a 250 gb hard drive {top spec!} is now only £969.00 and the last time i checked the price with the same spec it was £1,169 or there about.
I see a NEW MACBOOK on it's way,why else would the current model be so low in price?
Let's hope that Aluminium Macbook will be announced very, very, soon!

Price I got:

Subtotal
£858.73
VAT
£150.28
Total
£1,009.01
Ships: 3 days Free Shipping

Probably due to Apple reducing the prices for the HD and RAM upgrades (though why anyone would buy them from Apple is beyond me) rather than the base price.

I am not aware that the standard spec machines have changed in price recently.

Also getting £1,009.01

Though if you want 4 GB in a Black MacBook it's £1,069 when the specs are the same. Black plastic is more expensive than white?

I know the dropped the price here in Canada by $100 with the latest revision. Not to sure about other countries but Canadians were do for one with the price of our dollar. Paying $150 more for a MacBook is ridiculous but $50 is much better.

Actually, the WHITE MB is the way to go. Just as good and the price makes
much more sense.

I would buy the white one if they were the SAME price. Looks better.

Agreed. White ones more ipodish and fresh, blackbooks greasy, toylike, not cool. Get a white one and upgrade later to a 320 gb HD (100 bucks).

Everyones knows steve hates black, he wants to make it less desirable to get a black computer...

I prefer the BlackBook and have a black iPod Video. At least there's no discolouration, though fingerprints are more noticeable

I held off buying an iMac when an Alu finish was touted

As others have noted, in the US the base price has not changed, but hardware upgrades (RAM, HDD) are much more reasonable than they were in the past.
