I was in the fifth Ave Apple store and the demo macbooks are very snappy.
Programs open in a half a second.
I scrolled down the dock and open about five programs at once.
There was no lag. They opened bang, bang, bang.
These were all standard HDD.
I have the new macbook and it's not fast like this.
How are they getting this speed?

Probably because the applications were already in the system cache/memory.
 
Last guy was right. They've already been loaded up many times during the day so they're entirely cached. Also, they're faster than your new laptop because spotlight indexing has finished already.
