Macbook's USBs are being weird

So lately my Macbook will be running, and out of no where my USB's will just stop working, my mouse and keyboard won't work, my external hard drive goes out. Lately it has been happening more and more frequently. I am out of warranty so I don't want to take it to a genius bar, just to end up paying 200 dollars for a repair. Anyone know what's going on?

EDIT
I forgot to mention that when I restart my computer The USBs will come back on, but after a while (anywhere between and hour to 5 hours) the macbook USBs stop again.

have you tried resetting the power management?

I was having this same problem with my iMac. The genius at my local Apple Store suggested resetting the PRAM. It's been working fine ever since.
