So what I'm wondering is if MacConnection legally has to honor that price or what??

P.S. If this post is in the wrong forum please correct me... I wasn't sure where to post it. Thanks :)

No they don't. Every online reseller and mail order company that I have ever seen have somewhere in small print a disclaimer saying they aren't at all responsible for any typos or misprints.

Only in Certain States. In Michigan for Example, if you are charged more than Advertized, you get 5 times the difference when you bring it up to customer support. Its a state law, a cool state law.

Even if there is a disclaimer? Nearly every state has a similar law talking about false advertising but typically the disclaimer avoids that.

Can they refuse to sell it to you knowing the law in Michigan?

I would imagine that the disclaimer would save MacConnection from the listed $1194 price on there Website. Now that MacWarehouse has already filed for Chapter 11, I'd be afraid to purchase from MacConection also. If I have a problem would want to make sure that recourse was available!

MacConnection has now changed the G5 listing to the correct price of $1994. They are also still giving away free stuff!

Hi wdlove,

Wow. I didn't know that about MacWarehouse.

Who is giving away free stuff?

I think he has MacConection and MacWarehouse mixed up. In any case MacConnection is still giving away as much as 1GB of RAM for free with the G5. I'm sure that is what he was referring to.

Oh ok! Gotcha :)

So *MacConnection* filed for Chapter 11 or what? Was there a post about it?

Just checked it out... :)

It was Mac*Warehouse* that filed for Chapter 11, and they are now in the process of being bought by CDW, according to Google News links. Just FYI since we all got talking about it. ;)

It's MacConnection that I would be afraid to purchase from because of what happened to Mac Warehouse.

I wonder if after CDW purchases Mac Warehouse if that will stabilize the company?

CDW today announced that it has agreed to purchase selected North American assets of Micro Warehouse, the parent company of MacWareHouse. The agreement includes purchase of the US customer base, which accounted for annualized August sales of more than $900 million; the Canadian operation, existing inventories valued at approximately $14 million, and intellectual capital, including trademarks and copyrights. The purchase price for the assets being acquired, including inventory, is approximately $22 million.
They are buying assets, not taking over the company. Sounds like a cash and slash type of operation.
