MacfreePOPs no longer works?!

You could try FreePops, get the OS X download, and follow the email setup in their manual (They Use Outlook Express, but it is similar enough to Mail). See if that works.
 
Same problem happened to me and it was solved by downloading a new yahoo.lua from http://freepops.diludovico.it/showthread.php?t=8959
