Machine lag from headphone port plugin

Does anyone else notice that the machine will lag when you either plug in headphones or remove them and switch back to internal speakers? For example if you are watching a flash video in safari, the video will have a very noticeable lag when you plug headphones in if its playing.

Is this normal or do I have a lemon? I have 2011 17"

Same thing is happening on my 15inch 2011 macbook pro. It's honestly rather annoying.

I see it on my 2010 13" MBP
