Mackbook wont power up

So a buddy brought his mac book white 13 over and said the "U" button wasn't working. Pulled the battery and put it back in, and now the machine will not power up. With the battery in or out the machine will not power up. Any thoughts?? Hope are a prayer that it is not the logic board.
