I saw a prev gen 2.4 MBP on macmall.com a few weeks ago for ~$1100. It was out of stock, but I called the customer service and the representative was very nice. He told me it was out of stock but he would keep a watch out for me and if it came back in stock he would call me.

Last Friday the representative called and said he had one in stock. I checked the website and it wasn't on there, but I purchased it over the phone and he even let me use the 3% off from Apple Insider.

All of that to say that I got a new MBP (prev gen) for $1100. So I am pretty excited and am impressed by macmall's open box item prices and their customer service. I am just thankful that I didn't have to worry about rebates.

you got a heck of a deal. I bought a new sealed MBP 2.53 previous gen the day after the unibody's came out for $1249+tax from my institutions bookstore, been very happy with the purchase. Good luck with your MBP
