MacMini Output for Sound

I am hoping someone can help me with a frustrating issue. I am running Ventura on a 2018 MacMini. Out of nostalgia I just bought and installed Starcraft II on it. I don't have any sound... unless... I connect my AirPods and then it plays through external speakers. The system settings will show non-workable options for the display port and Starcraft will only show Default as the option unless the AirPods are connected, in which case all of the options display for Starcraft.

Anyone ever have this issue before? Is there a way to force all output for apps to go through one device? Is there a way to remove the non-working output options of my monitors?

Does your monitor have built in speaker, are your AirPods connecting to them?

Thanks for the reply. AirPods are connecting to the mini. One monitor has speakers but they only work with an audio cable.
