I am new to macos and this tMBP 13 is my first mac. i tried to update to the latest and faced a critical error at the end of installation. now it doesn't boot into my homescreen. I can boot in safe boot. Is there any way to clean install macos through safe boot. i am behind a proxy here so reinstall macos from macos utilities through internet recovery is not an option right now

can i do that in safe boot..mac didn't recognise the pendrive in safe boot

Sorry to hear about the problems.
I realize that you're "new to the Mac", so here's some advice for the future:

The predicament you're in illustrates why a Mac user should always ALWAYS ALWAYS create a bootable cloned backup BEFORE attempting a system software upgrade.

If you had one, it would be trivially easy to:
a. boot from the backup
b. re-initialize the internal drive
c. restore from the cloned backup.

Twenty minutes or so, and you'd be "back to where you once belonged".

Yeah. I get ur point. Installed seirra clean and again created the same error. But this time it connected to internet and corrected itself. At once it connected, the touch bar came on. Maybe it's something related to that. Will remember to clone backup here after
