Yep. Won't run that well though due to the HDD. Upgrade to an SSD if you haven't already.

If you're already on 10.11 or higher, it won't do any harm. If you're on 10.9 or earlier then you'll see a noticeable drop in performance.

Got it on mine. Runs fine for me.

I forget if I have 4GB or 8GB, too. I can look back at home if you want.

Keys gave you good advice in #2 above.

HS may run on a MacBook Pro with a platter-based hard drive.
But from the viewpoint of the user (you)... it may seem like the OS is "walking" instead of "running"...!

Solution:
Put an SSD into it.
Cheap and easy. Go to ifixit.com to see what's involved.
Anyone can do it. If I did it, you can too.

Yes I wanted to upgrade my MBP and put an SDD, but I don't have the money at this moment :(

This is true, especially the SSD part. My wife's MB Air appears to run quicker because SSDs are simply faster than platter-based drives (like the 1TB one in my MB Pro).

But, really, I'm fine with how mine runs. It appeared to drag down a year and a half ago, but that was thanks to a failing HDD cable (replaced for free under Apple's repair program for this model). After it was fixed, it got back to normal.

The option to upgrade to an SSD later is why I bought mine, too. The Retina MB Pros had just been announced, but getting a terabyte of storage was going to cost a bundle, and I figured I could use the 2012's optical drive a little while before swapping it out.

I still haven't gotten around to hot-rodding it with an SSD, though. It's still as stock as the day I bought it.
