There's another update now available via Software Update to 10.14.6, Supplemental Update 2.

Supposedly patches some more bugs. Build number is 18G103.

It didn't update the BootROM on either a MacPro 5,1 or a 2015 rMBP.

Why can't they bring themselves to just call it 10.14.7 ?!

Corresponding updates for Sierra (2019-005) and High Sierra (Security Update 2019-004 10.13.6)

Also the main installer for Mojave has been updated on the App Store, previous version was 14.6.03, new version is 14.6.06 and is somewhat larger.

My understanding, they keep the ident 10.14.6 because there won't be any new functions (or even bug fix) anymore, but only security update.

HOWEVER, I just update my Mac Pro 5,1. Once boot to desktop, I realise the colour looks a bit different. Then I check the monitor info, I found that now HDR is activated by default on desktop (I am quite sure HDR wasn't there before this update).

I can also confirm that the latest Mojave installer, now on the App Store, installs the latest build of Mojave, 18G103 as I just upgraded a 2018 MacBook Air that was running 10.14.3 with it.

I see that on my 2018 MacBook Pro which is connected to an LG 24" 4k display via a Thunderbolt dock and USB-C to HDMI that it's now reporting 30-bit color, which previously was only the case when using DisplayPort.

After the update I now have 2 new folders at the root level...
something called "blob_storage" with one empty folder inside called "29754527-5991-4a6f-b8ac-a10e4dfe105f"
and another called "GPUCache" with several files named "data_0, data_1 etc. etc.
I have now idea what these are for.😠

And, the AMD Hardware Acceleration hack continues to work, at least using the hex mod.

Maybe I didnt noticed before the update but since I installed this update now Safari ask me to authorize website if I want to download a file. It also asked to change the default folder location for downloads. Is it a new security thing or it was there before?

There is a new option under Safari Preferences/Websites, called Downloads. The default action is set to Ask. You can change that to Deny or Allow.

That’s part of Safari 13 which was a separate download from the supplemental update.

anyone else have issues with Night Shift since SU2 for Mojave 10.14.6 ? was working fine until this version, now the "sunset to sunrise" option doesn't work automatically and I have to switch it on manually. Mini mac 2018 here.

EDIT: might be because I switched off Wi-Fi around the same time and this seems to break location-services in macOS

Did this update finally fix the 2019 iMac not waking up from sleep issue? had that issue since i got my 2019 iMac (iMac fails to wake from sleep and requires a press on the back of the iMac's power button on back to wake up from sleep) as the mouse or keyboard don't wake it up. That only happens after the iMAC is asleep for a long duration such as 15-24 hours which is very puzzling. I recall the previous MacOS Mojave update Clearly stated that Apple fixed some issue regarding wake from sleep on certain macs but it didn’t seem to make any difference for me

Well I switched Wi-Fi back on again with Ethernet preferred and now Night Shift is working as expected again for me. Looks like something has changed with Night Shift, now requires location services (instead of just using the region setting in the OS - in my case EN-GB - to work out approx location for sunset time)

I first installed 10.14.4 on my Mac Pro 4,1/5.1 last June - worked perfectly. The 10.14.5 and 10.14.6 upgrades worked too. The 10.14.6 SU upgrade however caused mayhem - no display brightness control via F1 and F2 keys, no brightness slider in System Preferences>Display, 27 in Apple Cinema display NOT identified in About This Mac>Display, no output sound device in Systems Pref (and no audio either), patchy wi-fi connectivity, and a general feeling of malaise when using my Mac. i reinstalled the pre SU of 10.14.6 and all the above issues disappeared and my Mac is working perfectly again.
Any clues on a fix?

Do you still have the USB cable for the display connected? Try unplugging and replugging it, or if it's not plugged in, plug it in.

rdfincher:

"- no display brightness control via F1 and F2 keys,"

System Prefs on my iMac with latest upgrade says the brightness keys are F14 and F15

To chrfr: Yep, display USB cable plugged in, then unplugged - no difference. Furthermore, and I forgot this in my earlier post, Sleep didn't work, imovie gave error message that it was not supported due to video card not having Acceleration or metal (it does), and Hot Corners didn't work.
To ArthurCrown: My KB runs out at F12 - it doesn't have F14 or F15. And before SU2 update, the F1 and F2 keys controlled screen brightness perfectly.
Finally, before I reinstalled 10.14.6 without SU2, dosdude's patcher reported some patches had been overwritten by SU2. However, his patcher could not restore the overwritten ones. So I guess the message is to proceed cautiously with SU2

If you’ve updated the 4,1 firmware to 5,1, why are you using the patcher? What video card are you using?

Now you've got me scratching my head! I could have sworn that after I'd updated the Mac Pro firmware to 5.1 whilst running on 10.13, my attempts then to upgrade to OS 10.14 were thwarted by an App Store message saying the 10.14 update couldn't be performed on my computer. Same thing happened with my MacBook Pro 8.2. Then I discovered dosdude's site and successfully applied his patch to both machines, which then operated successfully on 10.14.4.
So right now is it possible that my Mac Pro is working with OS software that's been partially corrupted by the patcher, and that I should ditch the patched version of 10.14.6 and try to install a fresh copy of 10.14.6 from the App Store? Would appreciate it if you could walk me through such a process. I'd prefer to have an installation of 10.14.6 which will permit a proper SU2 update, and subsequently a smooth and working installation of Catalina 10.15 when it's released.
My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT120 512 MB, connected to an Apple 27 in Cinema Display via Mini Display Port.
PS: Am I correct in assuming there is no way to prevent the verbose startup screen on the 5.1 which appears after the start up boing and before the Apple logo?
PPS: I also have on an external USB HDD a bootable clone of the current startup drive in the Mac Pro in case of any update mishaps.

The GT 120 graphics card isn't supported in Mojave, so the Dosdude patch would provide some limited support for it. Performance is still going to be pretty terrible compared to an inexpensive card that's actually supported in Mojave, but this is probably why your display is not recognized.

Thanks chrfr. Well right now with whatever patches etc are in place, Mojave 10.14.6 (without SU2) is working well, my display is recognized, F1 and F2 are controlling brightness, Sleep is working, audio is good, current version of iMovie also working well. So I'm going to leave things just as they are for the time being. Finally, do you have an answer for me re the verbose startup screen? Again thanks.
