It seems that on my drive over from London to Munich yesterday a new MS Office (ARM-optimised) and macOS 11.1.

What real-world improvements should I look for ... I only use Word/Excel/PPT out of MS Office 365?

Many thanks and have a nice festive season.

Real world improvements for me:
- The weird pink color when sometimes appears under transparent element is gone.
- iOS Apps can full screen now.

For me, apart from whatever improvements Apple has included, the key thing I find useful is that iOS apps can go full screen now. Useful for apps like HBO Max and Axios which I use.

I just setup an M1 MacBook Pro with Office, I don't know if this was the Intel or ARM optimized version, it was the latest version as of an hour ago and I was impressed, it was as fast as anything I've ever used.
I'll be upgrading myself next year with the revised MacBook Pro and M2 chip.

MS Office 16.44 which has been released yesterday, is optimized for Apple Silicon computers.

Battery life was already amazing on my M1 base pro, seems even better on 11.1.

100% to 80% using safari, 4 hours 30 minutes usage, These M1 MacBooks are unbelievably, ridiculously, amazingly out of this world on another level.

I don't find newest update of Microsoft Word fast, it's first opening on my m1 air for about 5-7 seconds

also as i see, that if you don't use laptop for 30 minutes and more, when you try to wake up and unlock it with Touch ID, it screen on and quickly screen off and lock again, turning off display

How about usb speed. Wanted to buy a Samsung t5 but it was tested significantly slower then on an intel mbp.

I too am puzzled by all the blazing comments like "it takes less than one second to open Word". On my M1 MBP it takes about 4 seconds to open Word after a reboot.

Maybe this statement refers to reopening it and not the initial starting of Word after rebooting.
