I am running Mojave on a 2011 17" MacBook Pro and I am in love with the giant screen. I have a bunch of applications that I rarely use, but I don't want to delete them forever. I'd like to uninstall them and if I ever need them in the future reinstall them, use them and them uninstall them again. The problem is some of these Apps are from Apple's App Store and some are no longer available, so I can't delete them.

1. Is there a Backup software that will allow you to backup an individual App, including all the hidden settings and data associated with that App?

2. In the alternative, is there such a 'Freezer' App for MacOS where I can move an App (and all of its threads running in the background) and be deleted until taken out of the Freezer?

3. Is there a Mac Cleaning App that can analyze what software your MacOS has running in the background so I can go and just delete those particular Apps, rather than deleting a bunch of Apps that are not really impacting the system speed?

With respect to 3. of course I know about Activity Monitor, but I am hoping there is a more user friendly software out there that could analyze the Activity Monitor output and specifically report what applications have junk running in the background.

3. It seems like the Energy tab in Activity Monitor does what I asked in this part of my question. Are there other / better / more exhaustive utilities out there?

I can’t help you with your 3 main points, but concerning unavailable apps from the App Store, you can, at least I’m iOS, reinstall apps that you have “purchased” in the past, even if they aren’t available as “new purchases” anymore.
