macOS Big Sur 11.5.2 update broke IDL 8.7.3 (solved)

I did the update from 11.5.1 to 11.5.2 this morning and now IDL 8.7.3 (https://www.l3harrisgeospatial.com/docs/using_idl_home.html#)
doesn't work anymore.

I had exactly the same issue when I moved from High Sierra to Catalina some months ago: a popup says 'your workspace is already used or cannot be open', then you choose another one, it opens, says 'operation not permitted' and quits...
People at IDL Harris had to update their code to make IDL working again on macOS, it seems they will have to come back on this again.

Just to let you know guys if some of you are using this tool daily like me...

I'll try installing IDL 8.8 on my mb pro 2019 Intel / 11.5.2

I got a solution from IDL Harris: Try rebooting your mac if it doesn't help, try renaming your existing IDLWorkspace folder to something else before starting IDL. Usually that means going into Finder and renaming this folder: /Users/YourUsername/IDLWorkspace.

Rebooting didn't help, but renaming the workspace did. I still had to reconfigure the paths etc from the brand new IDL interface.
