When dose everyone think when we will see Mac OS Big Sur GM and when do you think Mac OS Big Sur will be released to the public?

When it's ready. (Of course not.)

I'm reckoning it's probably a couple of weeks out still. It seems like there is still a lot for Apple developers to resolve. I'm not even sure it will be remotely ready by the time the new iPhones are announced.

i think one more beta and then GM, we got beta 9 yesterdat, Beta 10 and than GM for sure

Sci fi is usually good at making predictions

October 14th - day after Apple's rumored October 13th event
No way! The latest beta is still very bad on officially supported devices.
It runs much better on my old Mac Pro 4.1 with Opencore then on my supported Macbook 12" with i7.
Powermanagement is pretty much disabled on my device still.

There will be beta 10 and than GM. So expect beta 10 by next week if not this week and GM in 3 weeks or so. Beta 9 is not ready.

But the new outlook for MacOS office 365 is almost there also so they are really close to Big Sur release

Do you know or do you guess?
I came across quite a few substantial flaws with big sur. Just one more beta and then GM would sound a bit risky and unlikely, though unfortunately not impossible.

How would the outlook release be in lock step with Big Sur? The current insider version works decently on 11 and the 2 releases below. Only still some instability with outlook. IMHO Microsoft has their own release plan.

Well. Look at how bugged Catalina got released and still is after 7 major updates.

Software industry releases software when the deadline is reached, not when it’s ready. Ideally, those are the same times, but that doesn’t work in reality. Especially not with something as complex as an operating system.

So we will get the bugs packaged as „release“ or „production ready“.

To be honest, I have a productive machine... Update to latest Apple macOS will cause update (€€€) to latest software licenses. So I think I will not bother.

Although I want it asap, i am also happy with my current smooth running system. Hopefully its truly ready for release when it comes out.

By CCC, do you mean Carbon Copy Cloner? If so, don't think it is fully compatible with Big Sur yet. I use SuperDuper!, and I know it is not compatible yet.

I also have some other critical third party software which is not yet compatible. I am going to wait a while. Meanwhile, things are running smoothly with the latest version of Catalina (OS 10.15.7.).

As is usual with new releases of the mac OS, the first few versions (.0, .1, and .2) will have some bugs.

It'll be released next Monday.
What makes you say that? Can you prove that?

It'll be released when there are enough bugs to be fixed by the next update without requiring a whole rewrite. (Tongue in cheek)

If history serves, they release it AFTER the Gold Master (GM) release. Sometimes a week, or more, after. (I think there have even been a few releases to go to a second Gold Master) We all know it's not like Ernst and Julio Gallo. Apple will release it before it's time. (An oldster obscure reference, that might hit with a few people here.;))

But still based on past history, the first few releases will contain some bugs.

I think I said that?
You "kind of" said it, without referring to specific releases. And those will be "updates" to correct those bugs.

Those are Euros – he means cash!
I see. Sorry about that, although my statement is accurate, ie, Carbon Copy Cloner is not yet compatible with Big Sur (same with SuperDuper!).
