Good morning all,

I work as a technician in a TV station and about 3 years ago I configured 3 Macmini to be able to make facetime and skype calls.

Each of them have a separate apple identifier.
However, they are not associated with cell # (iphone), only email.

2 weeks ago we switched to the Catalina OS and since that time facetime calls work 1 time out of 3. I can even try the same number on 2 different macmini, one will allow me to make a video call and all and on the other macmini it does not recognize the number and therefore impossible to do anything. This phenomenon is random on the 3 macmini.

So I tried a lot of things, but nothing to do this intermittent and random problem always comes back.

When I called APPLE support, the only thing they mentioned to me was that I absolutely had to have cell # iphones associated with each of the Apple IDs to make Factime calls on Macs. What is needed I have only used email as an identifier for years without a cell phone.

Can someone help me find a solution?

You cannot FaceTime to a phone number without a cellular line being associated. However, you can call an AppleId email address instead, and that should work fine.
