Open the "Displays" settings pane.
There should be a list of available resolutions to use.

Do you see:
1920x1080 (Default)
????

Try clicking on that.

If you DON'T see that option, is there a "switch" to "Show all resolutions"?
If so, flip it.
Does anything change?

If nothing above works, I suggest you download the free "BetterDisplay" utility and give it a try.

Actually, I recommend that you try it anyway.
Very useful and it gives you some control over the monitor "from the desktop" that you don't get with the Mac OS as it comes...
