I have a MacBook Pro 8,2 that's early 2011. I created a USB install of macOS High Sierra; I've done this for several Mac operating systems with no issues. I upgraded the memory to 16 Gig with no issues. I replaced the hard drive with a 1 TB Samsung EVO 850 SSD. I formatted the SSD with no issues. When I tried to install macOS High Sierra, I received an installation error. When I tried to install macOS High Sierra a second time, I received the same error message. I then put the original spinning disk back in my MacBook Pro. At the time of this post, I don't remember what the error stated; I know that doesn't help. My apologies.

Has anyone seen any issues installing macOS High Sierra on a solid state drive? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

I just tried installing the October 5, 2017 release of macOS High Sierra on the 1 TB Samsung EVO 850 SSD. I received the same error message as my initial attempts with the September 2017 release. This time I captured the error message. The message stated, "This copy of the Install macOS High Sierra application is damaged, and can't be used to install macOS."

Anyone have any ideas why this may be occurring when Apple said it could be installed on an SSD?
