macOS High Sierra mail preferences blank

I've worked all day on my MBP with High Sierra without issues. I just spotted that mail preference have gone AWOL. I rebooted, but they're not coming back.

Since all my email accounts are IMAP, I fixed this by:

• Quitting Mail app
• Renaming the ~/Library/Mail folder
• Deleting ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
• Opening Mail app

Mail then downloaded all IMAP folders.

If you use POP and/or store email locally, then you might require additional steps to fix.

After checking all is okay, delete the renamed folder in ~/Library
