So the drive monitoring software are complaining about that the SSD in my MBP 2011 has a too high power cycle count, its at 106.000 and the SSD is 3 years old.

Also the 2TB hard drive which I have installed in the MBP instead of the CD/DVD unit, and which is about 2 years old has a Load Cycle Count of 284.000 and a Start-Stop Count of 65500, the monitoring software is complaining about the Load Cycle count on the Hard Drive also.

I can very often hear the Hard drive making noises when the MBP is at sleep, it has always done that as far as I can remember.

What can cause those numbers to be high, can it have something to do with the sleep settings, or whatever they are called?

The explanation for the SSD power cycle count is: "Number of drive complete power ON/OFF cycles, including both sudden and normal power off"

The explanation for the hard drive Load cycle count is: "Number of load and unload cycles for head moving into park zone or landing position"

So im using this MBP every day, but I manually put it to sleep maybe a couple of times per day, so Its doing these power on/off on its own.

Any tips for whats causing this and what can be done about it is appreciated.

There's an option in the energy settings for putting the HDD/SSD to sleep when not in use. This is good for mechanical drives but not that much needed for SSDs.

If the HDD makes noise during sleep, it means your laptop is not actually sleeping but still active. Either there's an app that prevents it from sleeping, or PowerNap woke up the device to do some tasks. Network activity could also wake up the machine if enabled in the energy settings.
