Good day everyone I have Macbook Pro mid-2012. I changed out the hard drive because the old one seemed to have stopped working.. I am trying to install MacOs from the internet recovery option, but I keep getting this error every time after waiting hours.

I did the disk utility, but when it opens i don't see my hard drive in there.. When i restart withe the recovery key combo.. I see my hard driver labeled with EFI Boot.. When i do it it goes through the same process of trying to Install Catalina all over again an after hours i get the same messsage again.. I tried using the utility to format the drive to AFPS and tried again with no luck

This is a non-retina MBP 2012 (with the DVD player on the right side), is this correct?

FIRST THING -- something you should know about the 2012 MacBook Pro:
These have an internal drive connection ribbon cable to the motherboard that can get "flaky" with time.
When the cable gets flaky, it interrupts communication between the drive and the motherboard.
To the user, it may seem that the drive isn't working properly (or has failed altogether).
But it's NOT the drive -- it's the cable.
The cable is easy to replace (you've been inside already).
ifixit.com has the part number.
You can order it from them, or elsewhere.

OK, now that we've discussed that...

I can offer suggestions to get you going again.

First, what kind of replacement drive did you get?
SSD, or platter-based hard drive?
The SSD is what you want.

In any case, you want to boot to INTERNET recovery (NOT to "the recovery partition"):
Command-OPTION-R
at boot.

You'll need your wifi password.
The utilities will take some time to load -- be patient.

When the utilities are loaded, open disk utility.
IMPORTANT -- if there is a view menu, go to it and choose "show all devices".
(If there IS NOT a "view" menu, don't worry about this and continue)

Now look at the list on the left.
The topmost item represents the PHYSICAL drive inside.
Click on it, then click "erase".
You have to choose the format you want:
For High Sierra or earlier, choose "Mac OS extended with journaling enabled, GUID partition format"
For Mojave or later, choose "APFS with GUID partition format".

Now erase the drive.
When done, quit disk utility and open the OS installer.
Start "clicking through" and try the install again.
The Mac may restart one or more times, and the screen may "go dark" without any activity for a few minutes before continuing. Be patient.

Does this change things?

Thank you very much yes it had the cd drive to the side and the hard drive am using its one i took from a laptop i had here that was working.. the hard drive is Toshiba disk drive MK7559GSXF..

I have been thinking wonder if this could be that cable for real that could be causing this to happen because i also used another hard drive aswell for the same result.
