macOS Monterey broke my wired apple keyboard a1243, solutions?

Hi guys, so current setup:

MacPro 2013
Monterey
Apple Keyboard A1243

It was working on previous Monterey 12.4. I updated this morning to Monterey 12.7.1. It doesn't work. Fortunately I have windows keyboard so I can use that. The apple keyboard works fine on my older mac mini & MBP.

I tried to google, I found similar issue with M1 mac and their solution is to enable Kernel mac extensions so it provide more power to the apple keyboard a1243 to work.

Is this solution workable for my situation - Macpro 2013 with Monterey?

Use "what works".
So...
...Use the Windows keyboard.

It's been 20 years (at least) since I last used an Apple-labeled keyboard on a regular basis.

This actually works. Not convenient but better than getting a new mac keyboard.
