two since ages annoying things, maybe somebody knows a remedy?

when opening a pdf in preview via spotlight search, preview
- seemingly randomly but often opens that file in a new tab, instead of a new window,
yet leaving the previous file active, so that you got to first activate the new tab if you want to see the newly opened file
- if it opens it in a new window, the window is too small.

is there a way to configure things that files are
- always opened in a new window
- that window is by default full size, i.e. using the entire screen (but not 'fullscreen', i.e. hiding the menu bar)?

thank you.

yes, that's incredibly annoying. it happens when opening PDFs from the Finder, too.

I'm not aware of any way to change it. Preview's options are pretty basic.

since I'm running into this situation only once or twice a year I'm too lazy to submit this bug to Apple.
