I know the feedback link, and already asked to have this changed (which will not happen until in a few years time). But the new sidebar is not really great - always have it open (and then close it when I need the space) - as I have bunch of links I need for work, and I simply can't remember most of them (and they are quite long to type).

I doubt anyone in Apple is using their own browser anymore.....

Hi,
Updated to Safari 15 yesterday and the only thing that bugs me is the side bar; I always have my favourites list displayed on it.
But in Safari 15, it keeps collapsing and each time I open safari, I have to click 'favourites' in the side bar to expand the list.
Don't see any way to default it to a permanently expanded state(like it was earlier).
Note: I am not taking about the horizontal 'favourites bar' but the vertical side bar.

Is this the new way of working or a bug only I'm facing.
Any thoughts?

My sense is that this is the new way of working (i.e., feature, not a bug), as it now works consistently across MacOS and iOS. It feels like Apple is stressing Tab Groups for the future, which does have advantages over using lists of Bookmarks. You might try (re)organizing your most often-used Favorites into one or more Tab Groups (I do this by topic).

Is everyone else experiencing this...?

Safari 15 - switching from main/first set of tabs to one of the groups, opens up and duplicates the tab I'm on in the main/first set of tabs.

As I said, there's the main set of tabs (not calling it groups, because it's above the groups in the sidebar and it appears that this set does not sync with other devices. I have gmail open in a pinned tab there and another tab or two. When I click over from this set of tabs to one of my Tab Groups, it seems to recreate the last tab I was on in the main/first set. Anyone else seeing this? Am I doing something wrong?
