Installation on M3 iMac got stuck here:

Screen Shot 2025-04-22 at 00.10.01.png

Turning off and on again fixed it. All apps were already loading then it appeared again but went directly to "Welcome to Mac" after clicking on continue.

The M4 Pro Mini didn't even show both but Analytics were activated. I always turn them off.

Already after the last update that "Welcome to Mac" showed only up on one Mac.

And I wonder why I even see this iPhone Mirroring app since it's existence:

The News app is invisible since many years and only shows up when I change the region. I wonder why they don't do it here too.

Are you in the EU? I’m in the Netherlands. I updated to Sequoia specifically to use iPhone Mirroring only to find out I can’t have it. And no News+ in my Apple One bundle, either.

Edit: I fear this post got a little chaotic. Sorry for that. I can't proofread again now.

Hello Neighbor,

I am in northern Germany.

Please never logout from your main (iCloud) account. I always mean only the App Store.

Mirroring somehow works over the App Store account location. You can create a second Apple ID just for the App Store, with fake US address data or if you already have an old one, using that and only changing the country would be easier and you don't need to select a payment method.
There was a trick that a new account doesn't ask for payment method, in some cases it does, depending on from where (iPhone, Mac, Browser, App Store) and how it is created.
I just changed the country in an account that already existed. This only works if there is no money on it and no active subscriptions. Maybe try first to create one from that website. If you are already logged in for iCloud or something in the browser, you first have to log out.

You can also log out of the App Store and than there is an option to create a new account what might lead you to that website again or the other way round or everything happens in in App Store. I don't really remember.

If you already have a new account, it will be easier for the other device, you just have to logout and in again in the App Store.

Mirroring should work then.

Not sure if you also need to have US in region settings and English as system language, but I think this is not necessary. You'll have to try. I tried it at first only on Mac and got already into the App, but there was no connection to the phone yet, because it still had the old App Store ID. After logging the new one in there it worked,

It's already months ago since I tried that. I only wanted to find out what region factor is used here. So I didn't try much.

For the News app you need these commands in Terminal to see hidden files. Press enter after every line. To make everything invisible again just the same with false instead of true. But maybe you already know that.

Code:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles true

killall Finder

exit
[/CODE]

You will see the greyed out News app only if you open the Applications folder, not if you have the folder pinnend to the Dock, but you can pin the app then.

But you don't have to do anything of that, you can use your Mac set to German and Germany and use the hidden News app in English.

If you set your devices region to US in System Settings it will appear as visible. Maybe News+, Apple One etc. is then available too but payment methods may not work, if you don't have an US account with US credit card, also you can't change the country of your account, maybe it's even only available with everything changed to location US and for TV some TV stuff even VPN.

I sometimes have my region set to US over weeks and everything still works normal for me. So lettings that changed on the device doesn't do anything bad. Only the wrong country in an account can lead to problems.

For example, you can change you main Apple ID to every country name and address you like, but there are rare cases where it's better to have real name, birthday and address in there. For an App Store only account it's not that important.

For testing purposes set to German. At least it's already translated:

That's the only German part in the News app I found until yet. But I didn't really look.

Instead I found this:

Not eligyable because I already have 200GB and permanently get reminded that I am running out of time for 3 Months Arcade and 3 Months Music?

I have to change to the US store for Apple One, but that's not possible at the moment because I have over 140 Euro on the account.

This just says loading for two seconds and nothing happens, maybe same problem:

Hell and all devils, so the News+ app has been there all the time! I can start it and get a sneak peek, but if I want to actually read the articles I have to pay $12.99 per month… except I can’t, even if I wanted to, because I also have to be in the US.

Wahey for iPhone Mirroring in 18.5! Looking forward.
