So, one doubt. I'm about to buy a Mac mini from Amazon (link here) and I would like to know if it can be updated to macOS Sonoma with patchers. I'm really not in budget for a newer mini, so I decided to buy this one from 2014. I would just need it for some small tasks but basically, that's all.

According to Everymac the 2.5 i5 is 2012. It’s listed as 2.6 for 2014. Seems a lot of money if it’s a 2012?

Pics show a 2012…. With Intel 4000 graphics.

If you want to purchase a customized old Mac mini, I've had decent luck with OWC or eBay. I bought a 2.6 2014 from eBay for $130. It does basic tasks good enough.

Look at the seller's rating, very iffy with 80%-ish feedback with many problematic return issues. I would avoid like the plague. As stx66 said, eBay is probably better in general, just stay with sellers with high ratings.

Wait!
STOP RIGHT THERE!

DON'T buy a 2014 Mini... from anybody.

If you're going to buy a used Mini, get a 2018 Mini.
MUCH better Mac.
It WILL cost you more.
But it will be $$$ well-spent.

You can still get Apple-refurbished 2018 Minis, which will look almost "new", and will have a 1-year warranty, as well (you can even get AppleCare for them).

Get 16gb of RAM and at least a 512gb SSD.
