I have a Macbook (the very first unibody Macbook - early 2009 model.) I believe it's running "El Capitan" since it's old enough to not be upgradable any longer.
When the computer starts up, MacOS acts as if the command key is depressed. I can plug in an external USB keyboard and log in with my password and then when opening the keyboard overlay I can see that "Command" is highlighted as if I have the key down. Clicking on the Command button in the virtual keyboard turns off the highlighting, but MacOS still acts as if it's pressed. I've verified that "sticky keys" is not on... several times.
I've logged out and rebooted, of course. I also tried a PRam reset and have taken out the battery with the power cord also disconnected and let it sit for several hours. I also tried the SMC reset procedure that you'd use on a Macbook without the removable battery. None of these things have fixed it.
Any thoughts from the community? This seems to have started spontaneously a few days ago and I haven't updated anything on this computer for several months, at least.
