Hi Everyone,
First time poster, and am desperate for some help. Here's what happened...
I wanted to install the new macOS update on my MacBook Pro, however my laptop hard drive did not have enough space (even after I backed up and cleared all files off of it). I decided to use my G-Drive External Hard Drive (2TB) thinking that would solve the space issue.
Once the updated finished downloading and installing, my laptop restarted (as usual) and then when I looked to my hard drive, the icon had changed. The original icon grey, shaped like a G-Drive External Hard Drive, and named G-Drive. It is now yellow/orange and named 'Update' (see attached image).
Now, I am unable to locate my files can't be found. The confusing part is, I know they are there because when I click 'Get Info' there is +/- GB660 in use (the same amount that was in use before I tried to install the update). I have checked the info on the files that now show when I try to access the files (see attached image) and they add up to +/- GB60 MAXIMUM.
Based on this I conclude that the files are still there but I cannot access them. I have been to an Apple store and the guy at Tech Support was unable to help me (I quote: "We have never encountered this issue before."). It seems that the update has installed onto my hard drive and is now blocking access to my personal files.
This hard drive contains my entire life and I am desperate to recover those files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Kevin
