MacOS updates.. "Combo" or non combo?

The long and short of it is I have a weak connection at home, so I usually SSH into our uni systems and download it on their connection from Apple's before picking the files up during the next day.

What's the difference?

I noticed the combo versions are larger, hence they should be better right?

The combo is to update 10.4-10.4.5. The Delta updater just updates 10.4.5
