macOS updates for Intel Macs

Hello forum

My software manufacturer (Autodesk) does recommend an iMac Pro or MacPro 2019 for one of it's
solutions..

But nowadays for me it's not that easy to spend money for a recommended Apple setup,
because it is unknown for how many years from now the "old" Intel Macs will get macOS-updates....
Also because somebody told me, that Apple's stopped to offer updates for PowerPC based Macs
only 2 years after availabliliy of Intel-Macs (I dont know if this story is truth).

Question:
Is there any statement of direction of Apple for how many years from now, Intel Macs will get
macOS updates?
