Traveling The World
I don't mind the marketing name. I know the rumour was Mammoth and just made me think of a woolly mammoth.

However I thought we'd see a return to the landscape wallpapers instead of the abstract digital art like Monterey.
Hopefully someone can take some nice landscape photos of Ventura now that Apple as "put it on the map" for anyone who has never heard of it before.

I've been hearing about it ever since America released the song Ventura Highway 50 years ago in the early 1970s. That was Steve Jobs and the Woz's era of being teenagers, and mine too of course. So I guess it isn't a surprise Apple got around to picking it as a macOS name. Personally, I liked the cat names better...CA locations as macOS names are getting really old and tiring.

I hoped so too 🤷🏼‍♂️ The best third party substitute for the pre-Monterey landscape dynamic desktop I've found is an app called 24 Hour Wallpaper: it even features some shots of Monterey. Perhaps they'll add Ventura too

There are plenty of wallpapers out there on the net, I’ve been using an unofficial Monterey Bay one for quite a while. I’m sure people will take some nice pictures of Ventura and turn them into wallpapers.

Do you mean wallpaper wallpaper or the dynamic version? You're right of course about standard wallpaper: there's a lot on the web, less so with the dynamic version

I agree Apple has slackened off on the desktop pictures the past couple of macOS versions. I'd like to see more non-artwork dynamic options.

But changing back to numbers would create OCD problems.
macOS 14
iPadOS 17
iOS 17
tvOS 17

Totally agree. The abstract digital art does nothing for me. The landscape photos were awesome. I would even prefer pictures of animals over the abstract art.

If it was Mammoth, it would be for Mammoth Mountain, a ski destination in California. Not for the animal.

That would be very interesting though ... naming the new OS release after dinosaurs -- complete with the dinosaur renderings. Maybe it's just me, but I would love it.

I would love that. I want a giant dinosaur statue in my yard , but I’m not rich like that

Forget about landscapes.

Just use these and enjoy the vibes
