macosx software updates keeps comin' to stack!?

So every now and then, I'll get a Mac OSX Software update for stuff like security, safari, quicktime, itunes...etc beside them it shows how much space the update takes up.

I was wondering does that space stack up. Lets say the update is 50 MB, and another 50MB update comes a month later. Does that mean it will take up 100 MB of my Hard Drive space??

Updates don't fully stack. A lot of their size is lines of code replacing other lines of code. Only when there are new features added does a measurable amount of space taken away.
