hi all

hopefully someone here will be able to help me. Firstly im new to using a mac so please bare with me.

i have just installed macpar Deluxe, ive downloaded a film from a newsgroup, the files have a .par2 file extension. now from what i understand i simply need to click on one of these .par2 files and macpar will open up and try to verify the files. macpar does open but it just sits there and says verifying file, but it doesn't actually display anything in the list and no matter how long i leave it nothing happens. Does any one know what the cause if this could be,is it possible that the files is corrupt, i hope not as its 4gb in size.

any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I am not entirely sure what is going wrong, but I can tell you how to successfully download and extract binaries from Usenet (newsgroups) on your Mac.

Get the file using a binary newsgroup reader like Unison

Extrat the .par files using MacPAR deluxe (seems you are already using this... :) )

Unzip some multi-zipped files using Split&Concat, which will automatically be started-up by MacPAR if needed.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you, i will give this another go tomorrow and will post back if i still get problems.

Well i didnt have any luck yesterday getting this to work, ive got a feeling the actual download is corrupt. I tried to extract the .rar files and they all failed. i believe i was getting a crc error.
