The Retouch Artists action file doesn't use too many multi-core filters and not much RAM.

If you are interested, we have an 8 action MP aware test that uses more RAM that we are glad to share with anyone with a 2009 Mac Pro 'Nehalem.' Send me a private message for the login to my iDisk Public Folder and for instructions on how to run them.

Ok , So I'm having a spot of trouble getting the new tests on-to my system, but I downloaded from the link provided the old test. I ran it 6 times with an average score of 7.5 Seconds. I dont know how this stacks up as I cannot remember the last time I ran this test..

Hope this helps you

That is very quick, at least compared to my early 08 mp. I'm at about 30 seconds for the test with my octo 2.8, 10 gigs of ram, and raptor boot drive. Only ran it once though.

Yes, it is impressive. However, NeoSage's result was 33 seconds
for a 2.26GHz octo.

How is it that a 2.93GHz octo can be 4.4X faster than that? :)

Apple's own Photoshop benchmarks show the 2.93GHz machine
as being 1.2X faster than the older 3.2GHz machine. Yet:

Mac Pro, 3.2GHZ, 16GB, Nvidia Quadro 1.5GB, 4x300gb SAS, and two super drives
Time Best 20 secs

So the speedup is 2.67X relative to that? I.e., 2.2 times the
speedup Apple were getting. This needs more investigation.

If the time was 17.5s, not 7.5s, that would make more sense.

OK, in the spirit of PS testing, I ran the tests out of curiosity (killing the cat big time) on what now seems to be my archaic G5 Quad, 8gb RAM, 10.4.11, CS4.

BareFeats: 100mb test 1m53s, 200mb test 3m50s

Retouch Artists: 2m3s

After these results maybe I should look for some Scotch :D
