I've had this happen twice in a row now in a fairly short period. While running nothing besides an IM client, Mail, and iTunes I had opened up and was working within Second Life, when suddenly my screens flickered and the entire system stopped responding.

iTunes kept playing just fine, and I could still move the mouse-cursor, but it was no longer possible to switch between applications (none of which were responding) or otherwise interact at all.

Any ideas what could cause something like this? I'm hoping that this is just a really bad fluke, but am dreading that it could be some kind of hardware issue, as I've only recently re-installed Snow Leopard and upgraded to 10.6.2 so I doubt it would be an OS issue. I've been running my machine just fine all day till it happened.
