What are you going to do with it? Hope that does not sound too flippant - better say, what programs are you going to use to take full advantage of its power?

This video needs some 70's porn music in the background. Also, it needs lots of "Ooooooohhhh yeahhhhhhhhh." Other than these glaring omissions, nice video.

Bah, I see this attitude all over these forums. Let people buy what they like. My car is capable of going faster than any posted speed limit but that doesn't make my car purchase ridiculous. Power is just the nature of these beasts and gosh-darn-it that's what makes them awesome. :)

Congrats on the new machine! Pretty cool that you saved up on your own for so long to get it. I hope you have many years of great use from it :)

Right on. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Same goes for the value proposition, whether its a car, computer, or whatever. No one twisted Luke's arm to make him do this.

I just wish all kids were as motivated and patient to save up for something that they really set their hearts on. It's a very satisfying experience to set a goal and make it, especially since it took a year and a half to get there. This is an awesome experience for Luke!

Hey suderman, a few years ago I had a pickup truck that would do over 150 mph. It was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it even though I got a few tickets. Other people thought it was ridiculous and told me so. The few close friends that I actually gave the chance to drive it changed their tune in a hurry!

Ha, wow. That's a bit too speedy for comfort for me. Nice, though. :)

Most people don't need a Ferrari.

Most people don't need a Ferrari.

And people don't need TV or booze or trips to the Bahamas. But why aim for only our most basic needs in life? So long as you're not an idiot buying things you don't have money for, it's perfectly fine.

I defiantly dont need all the power of the Mac Pro... But Like you said It was something I saved up for and I feel comfterable using it

Web design can be done on a mac mini - its all about html and java these days, not image intensive stuff so no heavy photoshop.

Hope youre running a RAID5 with FCP and editing 2K so those procs can actually go for a run.

Just hate seeing these machines not used to their full, where there are people who could use em properly who cant afford em.

Just an opinion - anyway, enjoy your present

He has proved to be able to accomplish a long-term goal at a young age, so I would expect something good from him in the future.

There will always be people more fortunate and we should be happy for them :)

shows his ability to Save $$$ and buy it for himself. more than i can say for most teenagers these days. i say good on him.

what he does with it is irrelevant to the rest of us. its his hard earned cash*, he can do with it what he wants.

*unless it was procured by illegal activities :D:D

agreed... the money is theirs, and the decision is theirs alone

The ability to purchase a computer means SQUAT if he won't actually be using it.

I say this because the ONLY thing to which you could possibly be referring is his ability to buy the computer.

Well actually I will be doing work that will us the power of the machine. Like 3d rendering, video editing, and web design
