Canada Eh?
I am in the prcoess of buying a Macpro1,1 2006 model with 2.26GHz processors. Haven't got it yet (being shipped) but being the way I am I can hardly ever leave any technology alone ;-) So I have found a pair of Clovertown E5345 quad core processors that I would like to pop in there. All accounts say they will work although it would be at 2.33GHz instead of 2.66GHz.

However... these particular processors are Engineering Samples and are multiplier unlocked. Is there a way to tell the processor to use a higher multiplier either by covering pins on the processor or through the Macpro settings?

I do a lot of Handbrake encoding so the 8 cores would be useful for me even if it costs me a little in single threaded performance. But I am hopeful that with SL and future programs that more and more will take advantage of multiple cores. For example I run Parallels so I can afford to give a couple of cores to Windows without impacting OS X I assume.

Thoughts? Ideas?
