It’s time to put away the hackintosh MacPro spoofed to a 6,1. Pretty quick 4 core 8 threaded machine. I picked up a 2009 macpro 4,1. Basically, I figured I could still use it until it’s completely obsolete and then I have my collectible Mac Pro. Did the usual I suppose, upgraded to dual 6 core Westmere Xeon’s with 48gb ram populated in 6 slots to take advantage of triple channel memory. Flashed to 5,1 for cpu support. Replaced bootable drives with SSD and retained HDD for storage. Also added an RX 6600 with the ( @Syncretic ) flash. Thanks for that bud! Updated WiFi card but retained old BT, and added USB C and 3 via a card. It may have a ton of ram and 12 cores with a very recent GPU, but it’s no speed demon. However, it’s dang cool and running Monterey. I’m going to assume this is the end of the line for it though.

Hello. I have a single processor MacPro similar to you running Monterey and I was curious about a couple things. Did you buy de-lidded CPUs for the upgrade? I have replaced mine with a x5680 but I didn't have to alter it. Dual processor changes appear to me to be tricky.

I was also curious why you kept the old BT module after upgrading the Wifi? I upgraded both with an Apple Broadcom card.

I still consider my MacPro 4,1/5,1 to be a work in progress but I share your feelings towards it. I have been preparing my Coffee Lake hackintosh that was running Big Sur to run Ventura.
