Im having problem taking close ups. It won't focus. What is the closest I can take pictures?
 
Works fine for me.

iPhone 4S focuses down to few inches.

Left, shrunken image. Right, same image cropped. Hand held. 1 light bulb from ceiling.

I just tried with my wife's after she got home and definitely a problem. Hers focused nice and sharp!!!! Made an appt!!! Thx guys.
 
You may have to press the button several times until the flower icon appears, either on the small top plate LCD or larger viewing LCD. Some cameras then automatically shift into a specific zone on the zoom lens so you may hear a whir as the zoom resets.

what's this flower icon you speak of?
 
He must be thinking about a regular camera, the iphone camera doesn't have a macro setting far as I know, it just focuses up close, if you give it a chance. I find it works very well.
