After a year off we are ready for another year of NCAA March Madness. All are welcome to play. The password is MM2021

Brackets are announced, sign up and make picks up until Friday at noon.

VCU/Oregon a no contest due to a covid test. Oregon advances.

This creates major bettings issues and just in general for brackets. This is giving free points to people who picked Oregon.

9 teams seeded 10 or higher made it out of the first round..

#10 Rugters
#10 Maryland
#11 Syracuse
#11 UCLA
#12 Oregon St.
#13 North Texas
#13 Ohio
#14 Abilene Christian
#15 Oral Roberts

Congratulations to the Class of 2021 Cinderella/Bracket Buster teams!

We're three days into the first four-day weekend (round of 64, round of 32) and by my count the tourney has lost one #1 seed (Illinois), one #2 seed (OSU) and two #3 seeds (Texas, WVU). I didn't bother to keep track of #4 seeds.

Loyola Chicago's 13-point beatdown of Illinois shows how strong COVID-19 had on setting expectations.

I expect more damage in upcoming games: no contests, poor performance (due to COVID-19 related roster depletions).

Not sure if this season's tournament champion will really have earned it. Hell, I'm not convinced that any sport's champion earned it under the pandemic.

As usual I've been ignoring the first weekend's games. However this year I might refrain from watching any of it live on TV.

It's not like the best players on each team competing with the best players of their competitors.

COVID-19 has made the 2021 Tourney a farce.

Enjoy it if you can.

I'd rather watch NASCAR. (And I find NASCAR dull.)

Loyota is the real deal. Don't forget the run they had 2 year ago.

It looks like a #2 and #3 seed lost today. If I tabulated correctly, that means only 7 of the top 16 seeds made it through to the Sweet Sixteen round.

That's pathetic. And there are major NCAA BB powerhouses who have took a powder this year, like Duke.

Similarly in this year's 16-team NIT, only half of the top teams made it past the first round. Two #1 seeds and two #2 seeds were bounced.

Whatever teams win these tournaments should be best known for defending against SARS-CoV-2, not their collegiate basketball opponents.

I don't understand why anyone would bother to fill out a bracket unless they plugged in a bunch of longshots.

This year's tournaments aren't relevant. Whoever wins will get a large boost of luck just by how poorly their opponents manage coronavirus protocol, not that what happens on the court.

Sheesh - sour grapes anyone?

At the end of the day it's a bunch of 18-22 year olds dribbling a ball up and down the court. My school was one of the ones beat early and that sucks, but I'm still having fun watching the games.

Who peed in your Cheerios this morning? Whoever wins will do so because they were the better team.

i noticed that the Major College teams like UNC, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and the rest of the elite had not great season was because they usually fly scouts all over the country watching and evaluating other teams unlike the past 70 years. i have not heard any sports pundit state this theory yet.

Those schools became one and dones. So they don't have any players that stay 4 years. A year like this hurt them. That's because they built the team that way.

Even before Round 1 was done, it was being reported that no known bracketeer was undefeated in picks. This might go down as the most upsetting year of the tournament. I wonder, if you add the seeds in the Sweet 16, is that number higher than ever before?

that hurt UNC these past years, the 2017 had a starting team from 2014-15.
i like this better were anyone can beat anyone!

I would not call Syracuse or UCLA Cinderellas.

No team seeded 10 or higher has ever won the NCAA tournament, so therefore I call them Cinderellas.
