Starting this thread for all film buffs who collect Criterion Collection laserdiscs, DVDs, Blu-rays, or iTunes. Or simply just watch them on Hulu Plus.

Just got Hunter in the Dark from iTunes. On a craze for Japanese Criterion Collection films right now.

Any others?

I'm a big fan of Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune.:cool

Off the top of my head, I have:

Seven Samurai (the original Magnificent Seven)
Yojimbo (the original Fist Full of Dollars)
Sanjuro
The Samurai trilogy (story of arguably the greatest swordsman of all time, Musashi Miyamoto)
Ran (Japanese's adaptation of King Lear, very cool).
The 47 Ronins (the awesome 1941 Japanese version, not the crappy 1998 American version).
The Hidden Fortress (the orginal Star Wars: A New Hope)
Several Zatoichi (the blind swordsman) movies, not all of them yet.

I'm not going to point anything out specifically, just that I respect 90% of their selection and people that enjoy them. The world would be a little better place if people took a year off from the usual blockbuster crap and watched nothing but these catalog gems.

I love the movie M

Give it a watch. Fantastic movie.

The Samurai trilogy and The Seven Samurai are great go to movies. I really miss real movies, directing, and acting.

I just got Hunter in the Dark from iTunes. I really love the idea that Criterion has a separate selection in the iTunes movies market.

Some of are Criterion Collection movies but not specified as so. Such as Frances Ha.

Adore all of these. I had to sell mine years ago, but they're both legends. If they're on iTunes I might finally replace them.

I was happy to finally see Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion get released. I would love it if Criterion buys A Quiet Place in the Country from MGM and gives that movie the release it deserves. As great as Citizen is, Quiet Place is my favorite Elio Petri film.
