I go to a number of message boards, and they are all filled with fanboys that really take away from any useful discussion (read:IGN boards). Macrumors' forums seem to have helpful people, with a good bit of humor thrown in.

To the point: What is it that makes Macrumors forums more civil than the others? For a non-pay website, Macrumors sure has pretty good posters...

Yes, I agree. I think that my new avatar symbolizes my sophistication.

I don't in other forums, but I get really annoyed here when people refuse to spell. Dem ppl shud go2 ell.

The things we like are a reflection of what we are:

Macs = clear, concise, accurate, mature, sunny outlook.
'Other' = confused, unintelligible, immature, text-message-style rumblings.

See posts below for confirmation on that

I've always noticed this. We're just damn good is all. Funny how possibly the best forum I visit is a Mac one, wonder how the PC folk would respond to that :D

Actually I stopped visiting other forums. Everything I need is here.

It more resembles a religious gathering than any other board I've been a part of.

Although it's very well run, has efficient / omnipresent moderators and a very civil core membership I'm sure that is the primary reason why it engenders such a sense of community.

Sesshi has an XPS avatar! Kill him!
Opps.
I mean, friends don't let friends have XPS avatars.

Now that's how you can tell we're such a great community.

Of course, it doesn't just end at avatars...

Yea verily, shalt I be cast forth into the wilderness where there will be much high-performance entertainment :p
