For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with Plex to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win a cord-cutting bundle that includes a lifetime Plex Pass, an antenna, and a TV tuner for watching live TV and other content without a cable subscription.

If you're unfamiliar with Plex, it's an all-in-one media hub that organizes your entire library of content, from TV shows and movies to music and photos, plus it offers free access to news, support for Podcasts, access to live TV, and soon, some free ad-supported movies through partnerships with Warner Bros, Lionsgate, and Legendary.

To organize your media content, you can set up the Plex Media Server on a Mac, which makes everything you own accessible on all of your devices through the Plex iOS and Apple TV apps, along with Plex apps for consoles, Android devices, and other set-top boxes. You can watch and stream all of your content along with live TV content, news, and more from your Mac to any device, anywhere.

Plex's Live TV service doesn't require a cable subscription, and it's simple to set up with a digital tuner and a digital antenna. Using a tuner and an antenna with Plex lets you access HD content from channels that are available for free over-the-air, such as U.S. networks that include ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, the CW, plus local programming that includes news and sports.

You can even watch local NFL games, and with Plex's latest update, there's an option to watch live TV while simultaneously recording content through Plex's DVR feature.

Plex's website has the exact equipment you'll need to get up and running with the Plex Live TV feature. For our giveaway, Plex is providing a Mac-compatible HD HomeRun Connect Duo that lets you watch content on two devices at once, plus a ClearStream Flex HDTV Antenna.

Using Plex's Live TV functionality will require a Plex Pass subscription, which is priced at $5 per month, $40 per year, or $120 for a lifetime subscription, which is significantly cheaper than cable. Plex is including a lifetime Plex Pass in the giveaway, which gives lifetime access to Plex's premium service.

What's the over/under on "lifetime" being 5 years?
They have had lifetime passes for a long time. Usually you can pick one up around start of year for 75$ or something like that.
Have had mine for 3 years so far but know it has existed for while longer than that.

I hate to be this person, but am I missing the link or how do we enter the giveaway?

Seeing as I have had lifetime since 2013, I'm going to go with more than 5 years.
I was going to say the same thing. I've had a Lifetime Plex Pass since January 2, 2013. I've received a lot of value for my $74.99.

I don't have access to Plex's financials, but Plex has done nothing but grow and mature since I've been using their software.

Yeah, I'm entering with most of the options - but there's no way I am giving Gleam access to my Twitter account. That's pretty shady.

Oh, but they promise "not to post to my account without permission", I guess that's supposed to make it all right...

I have a Plex Pass. I find it totally useless for streaming photos as it can’t stream Apple’s default camera standard HEIF. So unless you change all your photos to JPEG and change your photo settings too, forget streaming them. Not going to happen. A lot of users complain about it but Plex has done nothing to make it compatible for years. What a waste of money for me.

If you haven’t already you can choose the option to manually enter your twitter handle. This way they don’t get access to post anything. That’s what I do for these.

I don’t really get the allure of Plex

For people who like to purchase movies and/or TV shows and rip them to digital, something like Plex makes it really easy to maintain and enjoy that content - significantly better than just relying on DLNA or even what Apple provides*. If you’re not one of those people, though, there isn’t much utility in these kinds of apps.

*Of course, “what Apple provides” has gone significantly downhill over the past decade, in this case.

For me, Plex does two valuable things: (1) you can rip every bluray/DVD in your library to a drive where Plex can serve it up in a Netflix-like interface (except without autoplay) at home or on the road. (2) With a digital tuner, you can stream live TV anywhere and DVR it as well. The recorded programs show up in your Plex library along with your ripped programs. It helps that we have uncapped gigabit fiber internet service, so there's no issues watching streaming video from my house when I'm out of town.
