For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with Satechi to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win a USB-C Wireless Charging Dock for AirPods.

Satechi's Wireless Charging Dock for AirPods is a simple AirPods charging platform that's able to connect to the USB-C port on a MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, or any other device that supports USB-C.

The Charging Dock, priced at $30, adds a small platform to the side of a MacBook where the AirPods with Wireless Charging Case or AirPods Pro can be placed. When charging, there's an LED light at the front that lets you know when the battery is full.

There are grooved edges on the side of the charger that keep the AirPods in place while charging, and the glossy white design perfectly matches the AirPods and AirPods Pro cases.

Because the Wireless Charging Dock for AirPods is so compact, it can be tucked in a pocket or a bag and can be taken anywhere, so you're never without a way to wirelessly charge AirPods. The dock-style design also means there's no need to deal with a cable.

Size wise, the AirPods Charging Dock measures in at just 2.28 inches by 1.75 inches, and it's just 0.48 inches thick. It delivers 5W of power for charging up the AirPods quickly.

$30 sound like a decent enough price for this niche device, especially when you consider that Apple charges $20 for Lightning to USB-C cable. I wonder if it can also charge iPhone, obviously at a slower speed?

Editors,

I am typically hesitant to support these sponsored promotions. However, I would love to see a follow-up where the winners could choose to provide either a written review or a video review of the product that MR would highlight. Since readers don't have a direct relationship with a the merchants their honest feedback would do more to influence my decision to purchase. You all, but Dan especially, can make any product dazzle - because he is so genuine and professional - so feedback from various MR members would likely reflect alternative real world usage that Dan simply doesn't have time to assess.

Nice, but, honestly -- who sits at their desk (or wherever) with such an oh-so-perfectly-swirled coffee by their laptop? It doesn't take much more than an accidental swing or bump to suddenly spill that entire full cup of perfectly swirled coffee all over your MacBookPro or iDevice.

Water is one thing, but ... coffee? Really?

/s: I know, it's a stock photo provided by Satechi, but having worked in the advertising business, this is a bit much of Too Much Art Direction.

Love this concept.
Yeah, let's create s box that you need to plug in, then use inefficient power transmission to load something slippery that needs to be placed and kept in the exact position on top of that box and which itself could just be plugged in. What a great concept!

The only thing I can imagine that would be even better is a much smaller and more versatile piece that would just directly connect the device. Real shame that nobody has invented such a thing. I would maybe call this a "cable" from latin capulum.

I keep coffee, water, water, beer, wine, whatever next to my computers, phones, and tablets every day. Not exactly a crazy concept.

Guessing your head would explode if you ever visited a coffee shop and saw people using laptops next to coffee on tiny tables.

Can't you just plug the airpods case into the provided lightning cable? What does this accomplish aside from adding an appendage that has to be inserted and removed from the MacBook?
It also gets warm, so there's that.

You would think Apple would provide an indent on the MBP where you could lay your iPhone, AirPod or Apple Watch there and it would charge with a magnetic field to keep it in place. Or when you close the cover the entire back side of the laptop display is a charging pad.

Sucks you can't charge your iPad while this thing is plugged in. When I travel, I usually plug my Note10+ in to charge overnight while using power share to charge my Galxy Buds+ or sometimes my gf's phone...:confused: oh yea, I use my 16in MBP to charge my Note...

Lol what a response! Such fragility here hahah

I only have one USB C to Lightning cable which I leave in my office. All my other Lightning cables are USB A. So, if I was traveling with my bag on a plane and didn't bring that ONE cable, how convenient would it be to just plug that into my MacBook Pro or iPad Pro and give it a little bit of juice? Much better than finding an outlet to charge my AirPod Pro which only needs a little bit of juice anyway to charge.

I'm not trying to buy it either. But if it's free, why not?

Right. No need for a cable lol. Just a chunky brick instead. Makes no sense at all. Just plug a wireless charger into your laptop and bam - you can charge your AirPod OR your phone! Miraculous!

You also get the benefit of slower charging.
