When a MacRumors news article seems oddly devoid of detail or lacks some key information, it looks like it was written by the Apple press office.

The latest weirdness is the article on the new iOS Photos app, with no mention of how features compare with the desktop version… or a review of a new pair of headphones without even telling us how they get sound from a music source.

You're always welcome to email me or comment in a thread (make sure to @jclo so I see it) if you feel that I've left something out or there is additional information that you're curious about. You'll get my attention quickest if you email me. juli at macrumors.com.

The iOS 18 Photos guide is just that, an overview of the features on the iPhone (and iPad). I wouldn't think a comparison to the desktop feature set would be relevant for people who want to know about the iPhone. A comparison between the iPhone and Mac versions of the Photos app would be a different article, and including info about the desktop Photos app in the iOS 18 article didn't occur to me.

An article on headphones would be an accompaniment to Dan's video review, and generally what we're aiming for there is to have people watch the videos for the full review content. I'm not sure what article you're referring to, but the latest OnTrac post mentions Bluetooth.

I'm always open to feedback and I'm happy to expand my articles and answer questions. Our minds all work in different ways, and what is a key detail to one person is not a key detail to another person. Learning is life long and I'd actually be thrilled to get emails from readers letting me know where I can do better.

Thank you for responding. The headphones article I recall was either about a Sonos or a Dyson product. No mention of Bluetooth at all.

With regard to Photos, it’s one of the “cohesion” apps: software that is named the same on multiple platforms while working with the same dataset. When this congruency fails due to a disparity in feature sets, it is a tech blog writer’s responsibility to document this for the consumer. Otherwise we can just read the same promo text fluff issued by the companies themselves.
