Hi all,

Trying to repurpose a late 2012 Mac mini with Catalina with installing Server. Now, I understand it's a lame product these days, but I'd like to try it out to see how it works. So, I bought it on the Mac App Store, only to be greeted by a harsh message that it requires Big Sur.

I get that, but I thought the MAS would offer an older version when the newest version would no longer work on an older Mac. I guess that's 20 bucks down the drain? Or does anybody know where to obtain Server 5.9 for Catalina?

Cheers

If you look in your purchases, you may see the Server app in there and you may be offered the option to download the last compatible version for Catalina. With that said, the app is really not of any value anymore, so you aren't missing much. Most of the features have been either totally removed or moved back into the base macOS.
