I have created an icon font using templates and own SVG graphics with the very slick tool at icomoon.io (the character numbers were set to Private Use Area, not basic latin). This font was downloaded to my Mac (iMac, 10.9.1) and installed using FontBook. It appears in the list of fonts in FB but not in any other application.
I use PopChar and can add single glyphs to a text in TextEdit, where the font also does not show but I can manually select it by selecting "Show Fonts" in the drop-down menu and then select my icon font. However, this does not work in Word as there is no "Show Fonts" option that opens the Mac font selector.

Any ideas on why this is happening and how to get the icons into Word?

Thanks!

Update: The font is available in Pages, did not think of trying that one. However, it still does not work in Word. Would it help if I attached the font here? It might be worth a try: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17204/ElementareSymbole.ttf
